Nagpur: In a swift operation, Sadar police apprehended a 19-year-old web designing student and his minor accomplice within 48 hours after they allegedly burgled a computer shop on Residency Road, Sadar. The duo reportedly stole five laptops, a hard disk, and cash, totaling Rs 1.80 lakh in value, to fund their interest in online gaming.
The prime accused has been identified as Piyush alias Sudarshan Agar Dongre (19), a resident of Snehdeep Colony near Nara Ghat. His accomplice, a minor, had previously been apprehended by Jaripatka police in another theft case but was released with a warning due to his age.
According to police, the burglary occurred between 3 am and 3.30 am on January 29 at SnapShot computer shop, owned by Ajay Mangtani (26) of Priti Society, Shambhu Nagar. The shop is located opposite Orient Hotel on Residency Road.
Investigators revealed that Dongre had surveyed the shop beforehand to gather information about its contents. The crime was captured on CCTV cameras, which helped police track the suspects. Sadar police inspector Manish Thakre formed a special team to crack the case. While Dongre’s identity was initially untraceable, the minor accomplice was recognized from previous records and brought in for questioning.
The police successfully recovered the stolen laptops, hard disks, and the vehicle used in the crime. The operation was led by Thakre and police inspector Manisha Kashid, with significant contributions from API Sandeep Jadhav, PSI Nilesh Ghogre, ASI Riyaz Mulani, and other police personnel.
Further investigations are underway.
