Nagpur: Nagpur’s medical community is in deep mourning following the sudden demise of eminent neurosurgeon and neurologist Dr Chandrashekhar Pakhmode, who passed away after suffering a massive heart attack in the early hours of Wednesday, December 31. He was 50.
Dr Pakhmode, who was associated with Neuron Hospital in Dhantoli, reportedly collapsed after a sudden myocardial infarction. Immediate efforts were made to revive him, with prolonged cardiopulmonary resuscitation administered till the morning hours. Senior cardiologists from the city rushed in and provided emergency care, but despite sustained medical intervention, his condition did not improve.
Highly regarded for his expertise in neurosurgery, Dr Pakhmode had built a strong reputation for treating complex neurological disorders and was known for his compassionate approach towards patients. Over the years, he played a significant role in advancing neurosurgical care in Nagpur and the surrounding region, earning respect from peers and patients alike.
His untimely death has been described as a major setback for the healthcare fraternity, with colleagues terming it an irreplaceable loss. Patients and well-wishers have also expressed profound grief, recalling his dedication, professionalism and humane touch.
