Nagpur: In a shocking incident reported from Khapri Rehabilitation area under Beltarodi Police Station, a 40-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering his younger brother following a heated altercation over his alcohol addiction and abusive behaviour.
The accused, identified as Harish Sheshrao Jumde, reportedly stabbed his younger brother Vaibhav Sheshrao Jumde (37) in the neck with a knife, resulting in his death. The incident occurred around 10:30 pm on July 25, 2025, at Plot No. 77, Sector 26, Khapri Rehabilitation, Nagpur.
Police sources said that the deceased had a habit of consuming alcohol and often verbally abused the complainant (his brother) as well as his wife and children. On the day of the incident, Vaibhav had allegedly assaulted his sister-in-law under the influence of alcohol. When Harish confronted him about the incident, Vaibhav started abusing him too. Enraged and fed up with his brother’s repeated violent behaviour, Harish attacked him with a knife, leading to his death.
Following the crime, the accused voluntarily went to the Beltarodi Police Station and confessed to the act. Acting on the statement, Police Sub-Inspector Amol Shinde registered an FIR under Sections 103(1) and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), and arrested the accused. Further investigation is underway.
