Nagpur: Old Kamptee Police have registered a case against three individuals in connection with a Friendship Day party at Eden Greenz on Kamptee Road, where one of the organisers allegedly invoked the name of Maharashtra Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule to pressure police officers during an intervention. The incident, which occurred on Sunday night, has now taken a legal turn after a viral video and multiple violations of event permit conditions came to light.

The accused have been identified as Vedant Chhabria, resident of Nagpur, Ritesh Chandrashekhar Bhadade (33), resident of Vena Nagar, Dattawadi, Wadi, Nagpur and Akash Bhanmali Samal also from Nagpur.

According to the FIR, the trio continued playing loud music and violated multiple conditions set in their event permission, despite clear instructions from authorities. They allegedly defied prohibitory orders issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police and disrupted government work by creating a public nuisance.

Police said the organisers’ actions obstructed official duties and caused a law-and-order disturbance. Based on a written complaint from the officer present at the scene, offences have been registered under BNS Sections 293, 221, 223 along with Sections 33(1)(w)(iii), 131, and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.

In the viral video, one of the organisers is seen confronting police officers and stating he would “directly talk to Bawankule,” allegedly in an attempt to avoid police action by name-dropping the senior minister. Police officials stated that such remarks could harm the public image of Minister Bawankule and are being taken seriously.

DCP Zone V Niketan Kadam confirmed the video is under review and said the accused will be summoned for further inquiry. He also stressed that political influence will not be allowed to interfere with lawful action.

This incident has reignited concerns over political name-dropping at private events in Nagpur and raised questions about the misuse of connections to intimidate law enforcement agencies.
