Nagpur Crime Branch Busts Online Cricket Betting Operation in Hingna; Two Apprehended

Nagpur: The Crime Branch Unit 1 of Nagpur Police successfully apprehended two individuals involved in online betting on cricket matches using the Live Line app in the Hingna police jurisdiction.


Acting on a reliable tip-off, police officials conducted a raid at Ward No. 4 in Gumgaon on February 7. The accused, identified as Rajendra Ramaji Bhanuse (49) and Rajkumar Pitambar Gahane (43), both residents of Gumgaon, were found orchestrating online betting on a live cricket match between Desert Vipers and Sharjah in the LIT 2025 series.


Upon seizing the accused, police recovered four mobile phones of different brands, one Alto car, a Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle, and ₹1,860 in cash. The total value of the confiscated items is estimated to be ₹2.88 lakh.


Following a complaint filed by Police Sub-Inspector Pritam Yadav, the Hingna Police registered a case against the accused under Section 12(a) of the Maharashtra Gambling Act. The accused, along with the seized items, have been handed over to the Hingna Police for further investigation.


The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinderkumar Singal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhijeet Patil, and other senior officers.


The raid team included PI Suhas Chaudhari, PSI Pritam Yadav, Manoj Tekam, Ravindra Daga, Nitin Wasnik, Sharad Chambhare, Sunit Gujar, Ritesh Tumdam, Khedkar, and Police Constable Kunal Gedam.


Further investigations are underway.
