Nagpur: A businessman has been booked for allegedly cheating Dass Jeweller in Shankar Nagar area by purchasing gold ornaments worth ₹1.06 crore through fraudulent transactions. Ambazari police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).


According to police reports, the complainant, Avish Ashok Vastani (36), a resident of Happy Rise, Shivaji Nagar, Nagpur, owns Dass Jewellers, a jewelry store on North Ambazari Road, Shankar Nagar. The accused, identified as Rahul Nareshchandra Khabiya (Jain), a tenant residing near Padole Hospital in Nalawade Layout, Nagpur, initially built trust by purchasing gold ornaments in small quantities and making cash payments.


Between October 13, 2024, and March 12, 2025, Khabiya purchased a large quantity of gold jewelry from Dass Jewellers. While he transferred some payments online, he also issued a cheque that later bounced. When the complainant confronted him, the accused allegedly made excuses, delayed payments, and even issued threats.


Upon investigation of the complaint, Pratap Nagar police registered a case against Khabiya under Sections 316(2), 318(4), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
