Nagpur: A 17-year-old girl allegedly killed her father by hitting him on the head with a wooden batafter he abused her and allegedly tried to get physically close to her while drunk in Nagpur’s MIDC area, police said.

The incident occurred between 8.50 pm and 9 pm on October 5, 2026, within the jurisdiction of MIDC police station.

According to the complaint, the man was addicted to alcohol and frequently abused his daughter. Family members also alleged that he behaved inappropriately towards the minor.

On the night of the incident, the man allegedly returned home in an intoxicated condition and began abusing his daughter. He allegedly attempted to get physically close to her, following which she resisted. An argument broke out, during which he allegedly assaulted her with his hands.

Police said the girl then retaliated by picking up a wooden bat kept inside the house and striking him on the head. He sustained serious injuries and later died.

The deceased’s wife lodged a complaint following which MIDC police initiated an investigation. The 17-year-old girl is in police custody and further legal proceedings are underway.

As the girl is a minor, the subsequent legal proceedings will be conducted in accordance with the juvenile justice system. Police are investigating the exact sequence of events, the circumstances surrounding the assault and the medical cause of death.
