Manakapur Police Seize MD Powder Worth ₹1 Lakh from Western Hotel, Arrest 38-Year-Old in Nagpur

Nagpur: In a late-night narcotics crackdown, Manakapur Police arrested a man carrying MD (mephedrone) powder and seized material worth over ₹1.02 lakh.


Around 2.05 a.m. on Tuesday, a team led by PI Harish Kalsekar and PSI Vinod Bholane raided Room No. 206 of Western Hotel, located near Sant Dnyaneshwar Society and Taj Nagar within Manakapur police limits, after receiving a specific intelligence input.


The accused, Tapas Kumar Anoopkumar Sharma (38), resident of Flat No. 202, Govind Apartment, Raj Tower, Zingabai Takli, Nagpur, was searched in the presence of independent panch witnesses. Police found 5.06 grams of MD powder sealed in a zip-lock pouch, valued at ₹22,400, along with a mobile phone and other articles, bringing the total seizure to ₹1,02,640.


Investigators said Sharma was allegedly keeping the drug for personal financial gain. A case has been registered at Manakapur Police Station under Sections 8(c), 22(b) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.


The action was carried out under the supervision of DCP (Zone 2) Nityanand Jha and ACP (Sadar Division) Sunita Meshram. Further investigation is in progress to trace the supply chain.
