Nagpur: A heated domestic argument that began with a mutual slap between a young couple ended in the tragic murder of a 19-year-old woman in New Gandhi Layout, Manakapura, during the early hours of November 14. Manakapur Police have arrested the victim’s husband, 26-year-old Sunil Narayan Yaduvanshi, on charges of murder following post-mortem findings that confirmed death due to strangulation.
According to police, the incident occurred between 2 am and 3:10 am at the couple’s residence near Dawat Lawn, Manakapur Ring Road. Sunil returned home from work and allegedly saw his niece-in-law, speaking to someone over the phone. This triggered a verbal altercation between the couple. In the heat of the moment, Sunil slapped Rani, and she reportedly slapped him back.
Police said the confrontation escalated, and in a fit of anger, Sunil allegedly strangled his wife, leading to her death. Initially, an accidental death entry was recorded at Manakapur Police Station. The body was sent to Mayo Hospital for autopsy, where preliminary findings confirmed that Rani died due to strangulation.
Following a complaint lodged by Rani’s uncle, 46-year-old Tularam Rampal Yadav of Bhartwada, Kalamna, a case was registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Mankapur Police have arrested the accused husband.
Further investigation is underway.
