NAGPUR: A 33-year-old man was allegedly assaulted with a fibre rod following a minor car collision in the Manish Nagar area under Beltarodi Police Station limits on October 30.

According to the police, the complainant, Shubham Nandlal Thakur (33), a resident of Omkar Nagar Road, Manewada, had gone to a sweet shop in the area to purchase sweets on October 29. While reversing his car, it accidentally brushed against another car (MH-49-CS-7004), allegedly triggering an argument with its driver, identified as Girish Jaiswal, aged around 40, a Nagpur resident.

Jaiswal allegedly demanded compensation for the damage to his vehicle. However, Thakur refused, stating that the collision had caused only a minor scratch and that there was no significant damage.

Enraged by the refusal, Jaiswal allegedly took a fibre rod from his car and assaulted Thakur. The latter sustained injuries to his left hand and near his left eye.

Thakur was subsequently taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Nagpur, for medical treatment. Based on his complaint, Beltarodi police registered a case under Sections 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The incident was reported to the police on October 30. Further investigation is underway.
