Nagpur: The Maharashtra Naval Area of the Indian Navy’s Western Naval Command is conducting the "Maha Connect" Rally 2024 from July 8th to July 18th, covering Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Konkan regions of Maharashtra. The rally, spanning a total of 33 districts and over 5,500 kilometers, is set to arrive in Nagpur on Sunday, July 14, as part of its Vidarbha leg.
The Vidarbha leg includes 13 naval personnel comprising officers, sailors, and Agniveers. Flagged off from Mumbai on July 8th, the team has made stops in Vasai, Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon, Akola, and Amravati before reaching Nagpur. The primary goal of the rally is to interact with students from various schools and colleges, as well as local NCC units, to inspire and encourage them to join the Indian Navy. The rally also aims to educate the youth about the role and functions of the Navy and introduce them to India’s rich maritime heritage.
In Nagpur, the crew will interact with NCC cadets and veterans at the 4 Mah Naval Unit NCC on Sunday, July 14th, at 9:30 am. They will also participate in environmental awareness initiatives, including tree plantation and cleanliness drives. Emphasizing the commitment to ‘Naari Shakti’ (Women Empowerment), the rally includes a woman officer and two women Agniveers.
Following Nagpur, the rally will proceed to Aurangabad and Pune before concluding in Mumbai on July 18th. Led by Captain Indraneel Awasthi, the team continues to engage in various activities promoting environmental consciousness and coastal awareness across the regions it traverses.
