Nagpur: Hudkeshwar Police in Nagpur carried out an anti-narcotics operation and arrested two persons allegedly involved in the illegal sale of ganja (cannabis), seizing contraband and a vehicle collectively valued at over ₹8.57 lakh.
According to police officials, a case has been registered under Crime No. 506/26 under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, including Sections 8(c), 20(b), and 29.
The complaint was filed by Police Constable Bajrang Junghare (Buckle No. 2620) attached to Hudkeshwar Police Station.
The accused have been identified as:
- Sheikh Shah Rukh Sheikh Israil (24)
- Sheikh Ajimulla alias Mulla (52)
Residents of the area behind Besa Power House, Nagpur.
Police said that on June 20, 2026, based on confidential information, they received inputs that the accused were allegedly selling ganja in the Besa Power House area.
After obtaining permission from senior officers, a police team along with panch witnesses conducted a raid at Abadevi Nagar near the Besa Power House drain, New Madge Nagar under Hudkeshwar Police Station limits between 8:07 pm and 10:15 pm.
During the house search, police allegedly recovered 2.929 kilograms of ganja stored in multiple plastic bags and packets. Officers also seized a Maruti Swift car (registration number MH-49-CS-9197) found at the spot.
Seized Property:
- Ganja: 2.929 kg valued at ₹57,260
- Maruti Swift Car: valued at ₹8,00,000
- Total Seizure Value: ₹8,57,260
Both accused were taken into custody during the operation.
Hudkeshwar Police have registered an offence under the NDPS Act, 1985, and further investigation is underway under the supervision of police officials.
