Nagpur: A major theft incident has been reported from Sakkardara area of Nagpur, where unidentified burglars broke into a locked house and decamped with cash and valuables worth over Rs 5 lakh while the family was on a foreign trip.
The incident occurred between 8:30 pm on May 2 and 11:00 am on May 4 at a residence located at Plot No. 16, Subhedar Layout near Basveshwar Chowk. The house belongs to Mangesh Sheshrao Sakharkar (43), who had locked the premises and travelled to Dubai with his family for tourism.
Taking advantage of the absence, unknown accused broke open the main door lock, entered the house, and stole Rs 1.5 lakh in cash, gold and silver ornaments, and a DVR system from a bedroom cupboard. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at Rs 5.15 lakh.
Following a complaint lodged by Rohini Sachin Dahivale (47), a resident of Ganeshpeth, Sakkardara Police have registered a case against unknown persons under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police have launched a search operation to trace the accused, and further investigation is in progress.
