Nagpur: Incessant heavy rainfall has thrown normal life out of gear across Nagpur district, prompting authorities to take urgent precautionary measures. District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar has declared a holiday for all schools, colleges, and private institutions on Wednesday, July 9, in light of the prevailing weather conditions and safety concerns.

Several parts of the city and nearby rural areas witnessed severe waterlogging, paralyzing traffic and disrupting daily movement. Reports of bridges collapsing and people being stranded have emerged from multiple locations. Urban roads turned into virtual streams, while low-lying areas were inundated, triggering concerns of potential flooding.

Rescue teams have been deployed in affected zones, and relief operations are underway to assist those stranded. The district administration has mobilized resources to monitor the situation and coordinate emergency response efforts.

In an official advisory, the administration has urged residents to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve. “Public safety is our top priority. Citizens are requested to cooperate with local authorities and follow weather-related updates closely,” officials said.
