Nagpur: Four incidents of violence involving neighbours were reported in Nagpur on October 19 and 20, leaving several people injured. The disputes, triggered by disagreements over borrowed money, construction sand, a previous minor quarrel and a boundary wall, were reported under Yashodhara Nagar, Old Kamptee, Imamwada and Wadi police station jurisdictions. The victims were allegedly attacked with iron rods, a wooden stick and a knife.

In the first incident, Minakshi Lalchand Gautam (35) was allegedly assaulted with an iron rod following a dispute over ₹10,000 lent to the mother-in-law of one of the accused. According to Yashodhara Nagar police, Vijay Ganpat Bharti (25) and Ranjit Katare (30) allegedly reached Gautam’s house near Kalyani Mata Temple in Gosavi Akhada on October 19 and confronted her over an argument with Bharti’s mother. Bharti allegedly struck Gautam on the head with an iron rod before fleeing with Katare. Gautam was treated at Mayo Hospital. Police registered a case under the relevant provisions of law.

In the second incident, Gopalchandra Sharma (39) was allegedly assaulted by his neighbours Vishnu Brijmohan Jopatvyas (50) and Nakul Govindlal Jopatvyas (25) in the Old Kamptee area on October 19. The dispute arose after construction sand was allegedly unloaded in front of Sharma’s house, obstructing access to the premises. When Sharma objected, Nakul allegedly abused him and struck his left leg with a wooden stick. He also allegedly took Sharma’s mobile phone and threw it to the ground. The accused further allegedly abused Sharma’s wife and parents and threatened them with violence. Old Kamptee police registered a case following Sharma’s complaint.

In the third incident, Vijay Raju Devre (35) was allegedly attacked with a knife near Pathare Kirana Stores in the Imamwada area on October 20. Police identified the accused as Aryan Sunil Birya (23)and Ritik Sunil Birya (23), who live in the same neighbourhood as Devre. The trio had reportedly been involved in a minor dispute a few days earlier. When Devre arrived near the grocery store, the accused allegedly blocked his way and abused him before attacking him with a knife near his eye and on his head. Devre was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), also known as Medical Hospital, for treatment. Imamwada police registered a case.

In the fourth incident, Amit Baban Zade (22) was injured in an alleged assault involving an iron rod during a dispute over the construction of a boundary wall in Trilok Nagar, Wadi. According to Wadi police, Zade intervened when an argument broke out between the accused and members of his family over the wall. The accused allegedly acted together, and one of them swung an iron rod lying in an open area towards Zade, hitting him on the head. He was taken to Lax Hospital for treatment. The police report identifies the injured persons as Hitesh Telang (19), Suresh Telang (48) and Sheetal Telang (45), all residents of Trilok Nagar; however, the supplied excerpt does not clearly establish their individual roles in the incident. The accused’s name is also unclear in the available portion of the report.

Police registered cases in all four incidents based on the complaints. The incidents underline how disagreements over money, construction material and property boundaries, as well as previous quarrels, can escalate into violent confrontations between neighbours.
