Nagpur: Central Railway’s Nagpur Division conducted an intensive Fortress Check at Nagpur Railway Station on Wednesday. The drive was carried out in two phases - from 06:00 to 12:00 hrs and 12:00 to 18:00 hrs - covering all major circulating and passenger areas of the station.
A total of 34 ticket checking staff participated in the operation, while no RPF staff were deployed. The coordinated efforts resulted in strict action against irregular travel and rule violations. During the check, 315 cases were detected and a total amount of ₹1,97,245/- was collected. On average, each staff member registered 9.85 cases with a corresponding collection of ₹5,801.32, reflecting the effectiveness of the operation.
In addition to ticket-related irregularities, action was also taken for violations related to cleanliness and passenger conduct. Three cases of littering resulted in a penalty of ₹400, while three cases of smoking attracted fines amounting to ₹600. Similarly, three cases under UBL (Unnecessary Loitering) led to a penalty collection of ₹1,100.
The Nagpur Division stated that such checks are instrumental in ensuring discipline, maintaining cleanliness, and enhancing the overall travel experience for passengers at railway stations. The division further emphasized that similar stringent inspections will continue to curb irregularities and promote responsible passenger behaviour.
