Nagpur: In a disturbing incident reported from Nagpur, a woman police constable and her three-year-old son were allegedly threatened and locked inside their residence by an intoxicated man in the police quarters area under the limits of Gittikhadan police station.
According to police sources, the 32-year-old woman police constable lives in the police quarters with her young son. She had earlier hired the mother of the accused to help take care of the child while she was on duty.
However, the constable reportedly terminated the woman’s services in October 2025 after the accused, identified as Sandeep Gedam, allegedly began visiting the residence frequently under the influence of alcohol.
Police said the accused was upset over his mother losing the job and allegedly came to the constable’s residence on the evening of May 26.
The constable was reportedly shocked to see him at her house and questioned his presence. During the confrontation, Gedam allegedly issued death threats to both the woman constable and her minor son.
In a shocking turn of events, the accused allegedly locked the door of the police quarter from outside, trapping the mother and child inside the house, before fleeing from the spot.
The woman constable immediately informed the police about the incident. A team from Gittikhadan Police Station rushed to the location and rescued the mother and child using a spare key.
Police have registered a case against the accused for criminal intimidation and wrongful confinement. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
