New Delhi: Two MLAs were among six people who sustained minor injuries after a car lost control and crashed into an SUV near the PWD office at Delhi's ITO on the night of August 22, police said.
According to the preliminary inquiry, the accident took place at around 9:30 pm when a Swift car travelling from Laxmi Nagar towards ITO hit a road divider, crossed the railing and entered the opposite carriageway before colliding with an Innova heading in the other direction.
The SUV was carrying Anil Jha, the sitting MLA from Kirari Vidhan Sabha, and Abhay Patil, an MLA from Karnataka, at the time of the collision. All occupants of both vehicles suffered only minor injuries and were taken to LNJP Hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
Police said the Swift was being driven by a 32-year-old Delhi resident who was travelling with his wife and two minor children. The impact caused significant damage to the front portion of the SUV.
Fire brigade personnel were called to the spot to help remove the damaged vehicles and clear the road, which had been affected by the collision. Police have said the matter is being examined further as part of the ongoing inquiry.
