Burglary at Mankapur Home While Family Watches Movie at Inox, Gold Jewellery Worth Rs 7.5 Lakh Stolen

Nagpur: Mankapur police have registered a burglary case after unidentified thieves broke into a locked house and decamped with gold jewellery worth approximately Rs 7.5 lakh while the family was away watching a movie.


The theft took place between 9.30 pm on December 22, 2025, and 1.15 am on December 23, 2025, at Plot No. 68, Gayatri Nagar, Baba Farid Nagar, Koradi Road, within the Mankapur police station limits.


The complainant, Piyush Eknath Bhilonde (31), had locked his residence and gone to INOX Theatre on Kamptee Road along with his family to watch a movie. During their absence, unknown burglars allegedly gained entry by opening the inner bolted balcony door and entered the house.


The accused reportedly targeted the bedroom and stole various gold ornaments kept in a purse inside a trolley bag. The total value of the stolen jewellery has been estimated at around Rs 7.5 lakh.


Following the complaint, Mankapur police have registered a case against unknown persons under Sections 305(a) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is in progress.
