Burglary at Elderly Man’s House in Nandanvan; Valuables Worth ₹7.16 Lakh Stolen

Nagpur: A burglary took place at an elderly man’s house in Nandanvan when the family had gone to visit relatives on the occasion of Diwali. The unidentified burglar decamped with cash and ornaments worth ₹7.16 lakh.


According to police, complainant Shrigopal Madanlal Soni (85), a resident of Flat No. 401, Jayswal Apartment, Plot Nos. 36 and 37, Umiyacolony, Nandanvan, had locked his house and gone to stay with relatives at Prajapati Nagar between 9:15 am and 12:15 pm on October 23. During this time, an unidentified thief allegedly broke the lock and latch of the main door and gained entry into the house. The culprit stole ₹1.5 lakh in cash, along with gold and silver ornaments and a diamond necklace, collectively valued at approximately ₹7.16 lakh.


Based on the complaint filed by Soni, PSI Nagargoje of Nandanvan Police Station has registered an offence under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code against the unidentified accused. Further investigation is underway to trace the culprit and recover the stolen valuables.
