Nagpur: A 30-year-old buffalo trader and his associate were allegedly assaulted by a group of men following a dispute linked to rivalry over buffalo buying and selling in Nagpur’s Pardi area on August 18.
According to police, the complainant, Abdul Rafiq Abdul Qadir Qureshi (30), works in the business of buying and selling buffaloes. He and the injured person had gone to meet their acquaintance, Chandu, in the Pardi area.
While the two were talking to Chandu at an open ground behind a school near Bhawani Temple, the accused allegedly arrived in a car and confronted them, asking, “Tum idhar kaise aaye ho?” They allegedly hurled obscene abuses and threatened to kill them if they were seen there again.
The accused allegedly assaulted the complainant and his associate with fists and wooden sticks. Police said accused Kanha Parmar (26) and Amit Jibhkate (25) allegedly struck the complainant on both legs, causing injuries.
The group allegedly formed an unlawful assembly, assaulted the two men and fled the spot. The injured person received treatment at Mayo Hospital.
Based on the complainant’s statement, Pardi police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other applicable provisions of law. Police said one of the accused has a previous case registered against him at Pardi police station.
Further investigation is underway.
