BJP Hosts Seminar in Nagpur on Union Budget 2026–27, Highlights Tax Relief and Economic Reforms

Nagpur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a seminar in Nagpur to discuss key provisions of the Union Budget 2026–27 and the newly introduced Income Tax Act 2025, focusing on tax relief measures and economic reforms aimed at boosting growth and easing the financial burden on citizens.


South Nagpur MLA Mohan Mate and Sunil Mitra, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister, addressed the gathering as chief speakers. A detailed technical presentation on taxation changes was delivered by Chartered Accountant Shrikant Dubey, General Secretary of the BJP city unit.


Speakers emphasized that under the new tax regime, individuals with an annual income of up to ₹4 lakh are now exempt from income tax. They also highlighted a major reduction in Tax Collected at Source (TCS) on overseas education, medical treatment abroad, and foreign tour packages, which has been lowered from 5% to 2%. Customs duties on 17 essential cancer medicines and components used in solar panel manufacturing have either been waived or reduced, aiming to make healthcare and renewable energy more affordable.


Further, cooperative banks have been exempted from deducting Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) on interest paid to their members, and the issue of double taxation on dividends has been addressed, providing relief to investors.


Several senior BJP functionaries and party workers attended the seminar, including Neeta Thakre, Divya Dhurde, Mangala Maske, BJP city vice-president Sanjay Thakre, Shashank Khekhare, Suresh Sawai, Prakash Yadav, Devendra Dasture, Vijay Asole, Sanjay Pandey, Ashish Pandey, Pawan Tiwari, Kamlesh Sharma, and Ritesh Pande Patil.


The event was supported by Jitendra Wasnik, Chairman of Nagpur City Multistate Cooperative Credit Society Ltd, along with Amit Jangid, CEO Shri Vilak Bharwat, Chief Manager Kiran Shahane, and staff members of the cooperative society. Organizers said the seminar aimed to spread awareness about the budget’s provisions and their expected impact on taxpayers, businesses, and the broader economy.
