Nagpur: Continuing its crackdown on the sale and storage of banned nylon manjha, Crime Branch Unit 5 seized prohibited kite-flying thread from a residence in the Manakapura police station limits.
On January 2, between 3.30 pm and 4.30 pm, the Crime Branch team was patrolling the area when it received reliable information about illegal storage of nylon manjha at a house in Nirmal Nagar, Gorewada. During a search conducted in the presence of panch witnesses, police recovered 17 spools of mono KTC nylon manjha, which is banned by the government.
The accused woman was identified as Sangita Deepak Shahu (55). The seized nylon manjha is valued at approximately Rs 25,500. A case has been registered against her under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with Sections 5 and 15 of the Environment Protection Act, 1986.
The accused and the seized material were handed over to Manakapura police for further legal action.
