Anti-Narcotics Squad Arrests Man with 1.20 Lakh Worth MD Drugs in Pratapnagar, Nagpur

Nagpur: In a late-night operation, the Anti-Narcotics Branch of Nagpur Police arrested a 28-year-old man in possession of drugs near Mokhare College Road. The incident occurred between 11:15 PM on October 21 and 1:25 AM on Tuesday, October 22, during a routine patrol by the Crime Branch in the Rana Pratap Nagar police station jurisdiction.


While patrolling, officers noticed a suspicious individual, approximately 25 to 30 years old, loitering on the public road outside the residence of Ashok Thakre. Upon detaining him, the suspect identified himself as Nazeem Afzal Mirza, aged 28, a resident of Mominabad Colony, Mangal Murti Layout, Pandharkawda, Yavatmal district.


A search of his person revealed 12 grams of MD (Mephedrone) powder worth ₹1,20,000 hidden in his jeans pocket, packed in a plastic press-lock bag. Along with the drugs, a mobile phone was also seized, bringing the total value of the confiscated items to ₹1,30,000.


The police registered a case against the accused under sections 8(c), 22(b), and 29 of the NDPS Act, and he was subsequently arrested. The seized items, along with the accused, have been handed over to Rana Pratap Nagar Police for further investigation.


This operation was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Patil, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Makinikar.


The Anti-Narcotics team, led by Inspector Ravindra Naikwad, Sub-Inspector Manoj Ghurde, and other officers, including Pawar Gajbhiye, Vijay Yadav, Vivek Adau, Anup Yadav, Arvind Gedekar, Rohit Kale, Sahadev Chikhale, and Raju Patil, carried out the successful operation.
