Ajni Police Arrest Two for Illegal Possession of Firearm and Live Ammunition

Nagpur: Ajni police arrested two persons for illegally possessing a firearm and live cartridges during a targeted operation carried out on Saturday evening. The action was taken between 5.10 pm and 5.50 pm on January 4, 2026, following specific intelligence received through a confidential informer.


Based on the tip-off, the Ajni police investigation team conducted a search at Plot No. 17, Parvati Nagar, near Phulmati Mata Temple. During a panchanama search of the residence of accused Sagar Brijmohan Pal (33), a Mauser firearm and two live cartridges were recovered from beneath a mattress on a wooden bed in the bedroom. The seized arms and ammunition are valued at approximately ₹82,000.


During interrogation, Pal revealed that the firearm and cartridges belonged to his friend, Pramod Rajendra Suryavanshi (31), a resident of Dattadham Nagar on Manewada Road, who had allegedly handed over the weapon to him for safekeeping.


As both accused were found in possession of a firearm and live ammunition with alleged criminal intent and in violation of prohibitory orders, Ajni police registered a case under Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act, along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. Both accused have been arrested, and further investigation is underway.


The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Rashmitha Rao (Zone 4) and Assistant Commissioner of Police Narendra Hiware, with the involvement of Inspector Nitinchandra Rajkumar, PSI Siddhant Maske, and other police personnel.
