Nagpur: Sakkardara police have registered a case against a 60-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting his 16-year-old relative at his residence and threatening her with dire consequences if she revealed the incident.

According to the police complaint, the accused is the brother-in-law of the minor's maternal aunt. The alleged assault took place on October 1, 2025, when the teenager visited her aunt's house along with her mother and another relative after receiving medical treatment in Shraddhanand Peth.

The girl's aunt reportedly asked her to take tea to the accused, who was sitting in a room on the first floor. When the teenager entered the room, the accused allegedly pulled her towards the bed and sexually assaulted her despite her resistance.

The accused allegedly prevented her from raising an alarm and threatened her against disclosing the incident. The girl reportedly fainted after managing to leave the room and reach the ground floor.

Fearing the accused's threats, she did not initially tell anyone about the alleged assault.

However, on October 26, during a 'Surakshit Bachpan Abhiyaan' programme organised at her school, the teenager received guidance on child safety and disclosed the incident to the organisers. They subsequently informed her parents.

The girl later approached Sakkardara police with her mother, following which an offence was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Further investigation is underway.
