Nagpur: In a tragic incident that occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, a 10-year-old girl named Prutha Akash Pande lost her life in a hit-and-run accident near Padole Chowk, under Ranapratap Nagar Police Station.


The victim was riding as a pillion passenger on a Honda Activa scooter, driven by her grandfather, Ajay Ramchandra Kavimandan, aged 64, a resident of Plot No. 13, Pannase Colony, IT Park Road, Pratapnagar.


According to the complaint filed by Kavimandan, he was on his way to drop Prutha at her dance class when a speeding, unidentified tempo driver recklessly hit their scooter from behind near the Padole Chowk area. The impact caused Prutha to fall onto the road, resulting in severe head injuries, while her grandfather sustained minor injuries. The tempo driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.


Bystanders rushed the critically injured girl to Orange City Hospital, where the doctors declared her dead after examination.


Based on the complaint, Sub-Inspector Kadam of Pratapnagar Police Station has registered a case against the unidentified tempo driver under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the BNS. The police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the accused driver. Further inquiries are underway.
