Nagpur: Ahead of the upcoming Bidgaon and Bahadur Nagar Panchayat elections, the Wathoda Police Station under Zone 5 conducted a large-scale law-and-order preparedness drill on Wednesday to ensure that polling is carried out peacefully and smoothly. The exercise was organised at an open ground in Jijamata Nagar under the guidance and leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Niketan Kadam.

During the drill, police personnel demonstrated extensive security measures, including the use of tear gas, modern crowd-control techniques, swift mobilisation of emergency response teams, and handling of simulated riot situations. The practical display aimed to reassure citizens that the department is fully prepared to maintain order during the election period.

The event witnessed the participation of around 25 officers and 70 constables, including Wathoda Police Station in-charge Harish Kumar Borade, along with officers from Pardi, Kalamna, and Yashodhara Nagar police stations. Assistant Police Inspectors, Police Sub-Inspectors, and other staff members also took part in the preparedness activity.

The demonstration showcased the use of various security equipment, quick tactical movements, situation-based response strategies, and security planning for voters and polling stations. The drill highlighted the police force’s capability to respond immediately and effectively to any potential law-and-order disruptions during the elections.

DCP Niketan Kadam urged citizens to cooperate with police, follow the Model Code of Conduct, refrain from taking the law into their hands, and avoid falling under the influence of anti-social elements. He assured that the upcoming elections will be conducted in a fear-free and peaceful atmosphere.
