Nagpur: An unidentified man was found unconscious near a hut in the Wadi police station area on Tuesday evening and was later declared dead at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Police said the incident occurred around 7 pm on January 13, 2026, near a hut located in an open area behind Nishant Cargo Building in Tajne Layout, Waddhamna. The man, aged approximately 50 years, was found lying unconscious near the hut.

Local labourers Bhumeshwar Raut and Sudhir Yadav, who were working in the vicinity, rushed the man to Medical Hospital, Nagpur, where doctors examined him and declared him dead.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that the deceased was a daily wage labourer who survived by doing odd jobs in the area and had no fixed place of residence. His identity is yet to be established.

Based on medical information, Assistant Police Inspector Vijay Nemade of Wadi police station registered a case of accidental death. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of death and identify the deceased.
