Nagpur: In a swift operation, the Crime Branch Unit 3 of Nagpur Police arrested two individuals in connection with a robbery that occurred near the State Bank of India’s Mahal branch under Ganeshpeth Police Station. The accused had assaulted a man and stolen an AC repair kit valued at ₹15,000. The incident took place around 2:30 PM on October 15, 2024.
According to the complaint filed by Ravindra Shyamrao Wankhede, 42, a resident of Bholebaba Nagar, Uday Nagar, Ring Road, Hudkeshwar, he and his friend Prajwal Shambharkar, 18, a resident of Dighori, Nagpur, were working as AC repair technicians and were offering home visits. They were standing in front of the SBI Mahal branch when Ravindra went inside to update his passbook. During this time, two unidentified men, aged between 25 and 30, approached Prajwal on a Bullet motorcycle and demanded ₹5,000.
When Prajwal refused, the assailants physically attacked him and forcefully snatched the AC repair kit bag worth ₹15,000 before fleeing the scene. Following the complaint, Ganeshpeth Police registered a case against the unknown accused under sections 309(4) and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code.
During the parallel investigation, officers from Crime Branch Unit 3 received reliable information and conducted a technical probe. The accused were identified as Samarth Prarag Bhosale, 23, and Sanket Nitin Katle, 23, both residents of Naik Road, Mahal. The police apprehended them at Reshimbagh Ground, and during interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime.
The police recovered the stolen AC repair kit bag and the Bullet motorcycle used in the robbery, with the total value of the seized items estimated at ₹1,65,000. The accused have been handed over to Ganeshpeth Police for further legal action.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Nagpur City Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner (Crime) Sanjay Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Abhijit Patil. The team included Police Inspector Mukund Thakre, Sub-Inspector N.R. Devkate, Head Constable Ishwar Korde, Milind Chaudhari, and constables Anup Tayawade, Amol Jasud, Vinod Gaikwad, and Santosh Chaudhari.
