Nagpur: In a major breakthrough against a long-wanted housebreaking syndicate, the Anti-Burglary Squad has arrested a notorious thief identified as Ram alias (Spider) Dinesh Madavi (36), a resident of Salai, Khursapar (Kondhali), who is allegedly involved in more than 70 burglary cases across the region.
Acting on a tip-off, the team detained Madavi near Government Medical College, Nagpur. During sustained interrogation, he reportedly confessed to committing three burglaries within Nagpur city limits, including a high-value theft under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station.
Cases linked to the accused:
- Kotwali Police Station, Crime No. 327/2025, Sections 331(4), 331(3), 305(A) BNS, Stolen property: ₹12 lakh in cash
- Sitabardi Police Station, Crime No. 745/2024, Sections 331(3), 331(4), 305(A) BNS, Stolen property: ₹2.80 lakh cash
- Ambazari Police Station, Crime No. 220/2025, Section 303(2) BNS, Stolen property: One Activa moped
Police further revealed that Madavi is also suspected in another burglary near a temple in Shegaon, Akola district, where ₹2 lakh cash was stolen. A separate probe is underway in this regard.
The arrest was made with technical assistance from the Cyber Cell.
