Sex Trafficking Racket Busted in Nagpur’s Ganga-Jamuna Area, 8 Girls Rescued Including Minors

Nagpur: The Nagpur Crime Branch has busted a sex trafficking operation in the Ganga-Jamuna red-light area, leading to the rescue of eight girls, including five minors. The racket was being run by a 45-year-old woman, Sunita Manoj Karmawat, originally from Kota-Bundi in Rajasthan, who was operating the business from a rented house near Durga Mandir under the Lakadganj Police Station jurisdiction.


Sunita allegedly brought girls from outside Maharashtra under the pretense of offering them jobs and instead forced them into prostitution. She reportedly provided accommodation and linked the girls to clients for financial gain.


Acting on a specific intelligence input, the Social Security Wing of the Crime Branch raided a house in Karodpati Galli, near a tea stall and Durga Mandir, and rescued two women. Further investigation led the team to another site near Om Beer Bar, where one adult woman and five minor girls were found locked inside a building.


Police have registered a case under IPC Section 143(2) and Sections 3, 4, 5, and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. The rescued victims have been taken into safe custody, and rehabilitation efforts are underway.


The action was carried out under the leadership of Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singal and Joint CP Navin Chandra Reddy, with teams led by Inspector Rahul Shire and comprising HC Kishor Thakare, NPC Sheshrao Raut, PCs Ashwin Mange, Kunal Masram, Sameer Sheikh, WHC Arati Chouhan, 

WPC Poonam Shende.
