Over 12,500 Participants, Including 12 Foreigners, Register for January 25 Event

Nagpur: In a significant move to raise awareness about drug abuse and cybercrime, Nagpur city police are organizing the ‘Tiger Run’ on Saturday, January 25. The event will kick off from Shivaji Stadium at the Police Headquarters on Katol Road and has already attracted over 12,500 participants, including 12 international runners.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, January 23, Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal announced the overwhelming response to the initiative, which aims to position Nagpur as a hub for sports and fitness. He was joined by Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Patil, DCP (Zone 1) Lohit Matani, and DCP (Traffic) Archit Chandak.

Event Details and Prizes:

The ‘Tiger Run’ will feature four categories: 21 km, 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km. Participants under 18 will compete in the 3 km run, while adults can participate in the longer categories. A total prize pool of ₹7.5 lakh has been earmarked for winners across all categories.

To ensure safety, all participants will be equipped with RFID chips to track their movements. Twelve ambulances have been stationed along the route, and medical teams will run alongside participants. Nearby hospitals have also been notified to handle emergencies promptly.

Nagpur as a Sports City:

Highlighting the broader vision behind the event, CP Singal stated, “Nagpur’s pleasant weather and advanced infrastructure make it an ideal destination for sports events. With initiatives like the Khasdar Krida Mahotsav creating new platforms for athletes, we aim to establish Nagpur as a sports city. Being the tiger capital of India, the name ‘Tiger Run’ perfectly aligns with our vision.”
