Nagpur Metro has seen a significant increase in ridership, with over 90,000 people using the rapid transport service in the last four days. With the start of the new academic session, Metro has adjusted its timings to ensure more services during peak hours. The increased frequency has led to more citizens choosing to travel by metro, and the convenience for regular travelers has also contributed to the higher footfall.

The introduction of WhatsApp ticketing has also seen a major uptick, as only casual and new travelers opt for window tickets. Daily travelers find digital ticketing convenient and are making full use of it. In the last week of July, the passenger number crossed 90,000.

The incessant rains over the past week seem to have prompted people to opt for metro services, as it is faster than using the roads. Driving during the rains is quite challenging due to poor road conditions, which could have resulted in the jump in metro travelers.
