Nagpur : Marking the 79th Independence Day celebrations, Mankapur Police Station in Nagpur not only hoisted the national flag but also brought smiles to several citizens by returning stolen property and recovered mobile phones worth a total of ₹5,92,000 to their rightful owners.
Between January 2025 and August 15, 2025, Mankapur police registered 28 housebreaking cases, of which the investigation team successfully solved 20 cases through sustained efforts. The recovered property included gold, silver, and cash seized from the accused.
In addition, the station’s Mobile Missing Squad traced and recovered 25 missing smartphones through the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal. The recovered devices included 7 Redmi, 1 Motorola, 4 Samsung, 3 Oppo, 6 Vivo, 1 iPhone, 1 Tecno, 1 OnePlus, and 1 Poco handset, collectively valued at approximately ₹3,26,000.
On Thursday, the Independence Day programme at Mankapur Police Station saw the return of:
• Gold and silver ornaments worth ₹2,66,000 recovered from four solved housebreaking cases.
• 25 mobile phones worth ₹3,26,000 traced in missing device cases.
The recovered property was handed over directly to the complainants in the presence of police officers and staff.
This initiative was carried out under the directives of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singal, Additional CP (North & Traffic) Navinchandra Reddy, and Additional CP (Crime) Gajendra Dabhade, with guidance from DCP Zone 2 Nityanand Jha and ACP Sunita Meshram. Officers and personnel of Mankapur Police Station led PI Harish Kalsekar played a key role in the operation.
The event showcased not only the police department’s commitment to crime detection but also its dedication to community trust-building — making Independence Day truly meaningful for the citizens of Nagpur.
