Nagpur: A major action under Operation Thunder led by Crime Branch’s NDPS squad to arrest three men — including a murder-accused habitual offender — for allegedly selling MD drugs in the Kamgar Nagar locality in the wee hours of Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, the team conducted a raid near a scrap shop outside Gausiya Masjid between 11 pm on November 28 and 2.50 am on November 29, registering an offence under Sections 8(c), 22(c), and 29 of the NDPS Act in Crime No. 761/2025.
The arrested accused include Sameer Amar Saghir Ahmed (30), a repeat offender with 16 criminal cases such as two NDPS offences, one murder case under IPC 302, cases of dacoity preparation, Arms Act violations, cattle-related offences, theft, and assault.
Alongside him, police arrested Imran alias Imu alias Pachpan Ahmed Saghir Ahmed (28), who has a case of obscene abuse and assault, and Akash Bhagirath Sayyam (26), a resident of Bhimwadi slums in Yashodhara Nagar. Police have also launched a hunt for wanted accused Sonu Sattar Sheikh (26) of Kamgar Nagar.
During the operation, police seized 85.030 grams of MD powder worth ₹4,25,150, four mobile phones valued at ₹31,000, a Honda four-wheeler worth ₹3,00,000, a Royal Enfield Bullet with “Imran 55” inscribed on it worth ₹2,50,000, cash amounting to ₹2,55,000, along with an electronic weighing machine, plastic pouches, and a DVR. The total value of seized property stands at ₹12,71,750.
Police officials stated that the raid was conducted after confirming that the accused were actively involved in drug peddling in the Kapil Nagar jurisdiction. Surveillance was mounted, and the suspects were intercepted in the presence of panch witnesses following NDPS procedures. Kapil Nagar Police have registered the case and initiated further investigations to trace the absconding accused.
