Nagpur: The MIDC Police have registered a case against unidentified burglars who broke into a locked house in Pragnya Nagar, Jaitala Road, and stole gold and silver ornaments worth ₹2,38,000. The incident occurred sometime between January 25, 2026 (12:00 pm) and February 2, 2026 (4:20 am), while the homeowners were away in Pune.
According to the complaint filed by 29-year-old Niranjan Naresh Ghapade, a resident of House No. 46, Saudamini Layout, he had locked his home and travelled to Pune with his family. During this period, unknown thieves broke open the main door by damaging the lock and latch. After gaining entry, they targeted the bedroom and stole multiple gold and silver ornaments kept inside an iron almirah.
Based on the complaint, MIDC Police have registered an offence under Sections 305(A), 331(3), and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is being conducted by PSI Vaishali Solanke, who has initiated efforts to identify and trace the burglars. Police teams are examining evidence and further investigation is underway.
The MIDC police have urged residents to ensure enhanced security measures when leaving homes locked for extended periods.
