Hudkeshwar Police Arrest Notorious Burglar with 68 Criminal Cases in Nagpur, Wardha Districts

Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, Hudkeshwar Police have arrested 40-year-old Deepak alias Bajrang alias Bhajan Brahadas Bansod, a serial offender wanted in connection with a residential burglary case in Bahadura Fata. The arrest has led to the cracking of six criminal cases, including vehicle thefts, with recovery of stolen gold jewelry and five motorcycles worth lakhs of rupees. The accused has been involved in 68 offences across Nagpur and Wardha districts.


The case came to light when a family returned home on May 26, 2025, to find their house lock broken and gold ornaments along with cash stolen. Acting on CCTV footage that showed a suspect circling the area on a black Splendor bike, police launched an intensive investigation. After gathering credible intelligence, the Crime Branch team arrested Bansod from his residence near Symbiosis College in Wathoda on June 7.


During interrogation, Bansod not only confessed to the Bahadura Fata burglary but also led police to recover the stolen gold and five additional motorcycles of various makes. Investigation revealed his involvement in a staggering 68 criminal cases across Nagpur city, Nagpur rural and Wardha district, including temple thefts and vehicle thefts. His criminal history includes the high-profile 2017 theft at Dragon Palace Buddhist Temple in Kamptee, for which he was arrested in 2018.


The successful operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal, with Deputy Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy and Additional CP (South) Dr. Shivaji Rathod, DCP Rashmita Rao and ACP Narendra Hiware overseeing the investigation. The police team included Senior PI Dyaneshwar Bhedodkar and PI Nageshkumar Batarkar from Hudkeshwar Police Station and others made the arrest.


Authorities have remanded Bansod to police custody for further interrogation to uncover his possible involvement in more unsolved cases.
