Nagpur: In a significant breakthrough, Gittikhadan Police have arrested a serial vehicle thief and recovered three stolen motorcycles worth ₹1.05 lakh, solving multiple theft cases reported in the area.

The investigation began after a complaint was lodged by Hiralal Raghunath Gajbhiye, a 50-year-old resident of Vishwas Nagar, Akhri Bus Stop, Nagpur. On the night of July 13 to the morning of July 14, Gajbhiye’s son had parked a Hero Splendor motorcycle (MH 31 FN 8995), worth around ₹15,000, in front of their house. The bike was found missing the next morning, prompting the Gittikhadan Police to register an FIR under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against unknown persons.

Acting swiftly, the police team used technical surveillance and intelligence inputs, leading them to suspect Ankush Babulal Uike (33), a resident of Jagdish Nagar, near Shiv Mandir, Gittikhadan. After taking him into custody and conducting a detailed interrogation, Uike confessed to the theft of the aforementioned motorcycle.

Further questioning revealed that Uike was also involved in two more thefts within the Gittikhadan jurisdiction. He admitted to stealing a Hero Glamour (MH 31 FW 4137) worth ₹50,000 and another Hero Splendor (MH 31 FT 3853) worth ₹40,000. All three motorcycles have been recovered from his possession, bringing the total seized stolen property to ₹1.05 lakh.

With this arrest, the police have successfully cracked three vehicle theft cases, offering significant relief to local residents. Further investigation is underway to determine if the accused is connected to other unsolved thefts in the city.
