Extortion Attempt at Knife Point: Accused Arrested for Threatening Chinese Stall Owner in Jaripatka, Nagpur

Nagpur: A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to extort money from a local food stall owner in the Jaripatka area by brandishing a knife and threatening violence.


The accused, identified as Punesh Gulabsingh Thakre of Misal Layout, reportedly approached the complainant, Saurabh Ilamkar, who operates a Chinese food stall, demanding ₹2,000 as weekly “protection money.” When Ilamkar refused, Thakre allegedly attacked the stall with a knife and fled.


Three months earlier, Thakre had reportedly threatened the complainant in a similar manner, boasting about his criminal background and firing record.


Based on the complaint, Jaripatka Police registered an FIR under sections 308(3), 308(4), 351(3) of the BNS, along with relevant sections of the Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act. The accused was arrested within hours.


Investigation is ongoing under the supervision of PI Sonawane.
