Nagpur: The Crime Branch’s Anti-Human Trafficking Squad (AHTS) has traced and safely rescued two missing teenage boys in two separate operations carried out on the same day. Both minors, who had left their homes without informing their families, were found within hours after the AHTS received concrete leads and swung into action.

In the first case, a 17-year-old boy from the Jaripatka area had gone missing on October 22, prompting his 45-year-old father to file a complaint after the boy failed to return home. Acting on the case registered under Section 363(2) of the IPC, the AHTS received a reliable tip-off on November 12 indicating the boy’s presence near Hanuman Mandir, Indora Chowk. The team immediately reached the spot, traced the boy, and took him into custody. He was later counselled and handed over to Jaripatka Police for further action.

In a separate operation the same day, the team also traced a 16-year-old boy who had gone missing from Ambazari on November 7. His 37-year-old father had lodged a similar complaint fearing that someone might have lured his son away. Acting on a credible lead, the AHTS located the boy at Ravi Nagar Square, questioned him, and ensured his safe return. He too underwent counselling before being handed over to Ambazari Police.

Both rescues were the result of coordinated action between the Crime Branch’s Anti-Human Trafficking Squad and Cyber Cell, which provided crucial technical assistance.

The twin operations were executed under the overall guidance of Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy, Addl CP (Crime) Vasant Paradeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil. The AHTS team included PI Lalita Todase, API Sham Anguthelwar, HC Sachin Shrirame, and WPCs Ashwini Khodpewar and Pallavi Wanjari.

Police officials stated that both teenagers were counselled to prevent similar incidents in the future and reunited with their families safely.
