Nagpur: Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) consumers in Nagpur have reason to cheer as the price of CNG will be reduced by Rs 4.04 per kg starting August 15. As part of an "Independence Day offer," the fuel will now be available at Rs 88 per kg, down from the current price of Rs 92.04 per kg.
HCG Nagpur Private Limited, the company responsible for supplying CNG in the district, announced the price cut, aiming to further encourage the use of this eco-friendly fuel. Deepak Sawant, President of HCG Nagpur Private Limited, confirmed the price reduction and expressed optimism that it will increase the number of CNG users in the city.
Sawant also revealed that the company, which currently operates 10 CNG outlets in Nagpur, plans to expand its network by adding 18 more outlets by March 2025. "The increase in outlets, combined with the reduced prices, will help streamline CNG supply across the city," he said.
CNG-powered vehicles are known for their improved mileage and lower environmental impact, making them a popular choice among consumers. However, recent price hikes, driven by the Russia-Ukraine conflict and other international factors, had pushed CNG prices above that of petrol. The latest price cut is expected to reinvigorate consumer interest in CNG as a cost-effective and eco-friendly fuel option.
