Nagpur: A Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) employee from Chandrapur and his family members have been booked for allegedly duping a Nandanvan resident and 11 others of ₹90 lakh by promising them jobs at MahaGenco (Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd.).
The accused, identified as Waman Bhularam Dambhare (60), his wife Kalavati Dambhare (55), and daughter Vaishali Chandrahan Wadule (34), allegedly lured victims by claiming to have high-level connections and access to project-affected employment documents at Mahagenco.
According to the complaint filed by Hemant Ramchandra Patil (47), a resident of Chitnavis Nagar, Nandanvan, he was introduced to Waman Dambhare, who worked as an operator at WCL’s Durgapur unit in Chandrapur. Dambhare convinced Patil that he could secure jobs at Mahagenco for him and his acquaintances in exchange for money.
Between March 1, 2022, and October 30, 2022, Patil and 11 others paid a total of ₹90 lakh to the accused through cash, online transfers, and RTGS transactions. However, no jobs were provided, and the accused allegedly defrauded them.
Following an investigation, Nandanvan police have registered a case under Sections 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC against the accused trio. The matter is under further investigation.
