Nagpur: In a major development for Nagpur city, the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has signed agreements with HUDCO (Housing and Urban Development Corporation) and NBCC (National Buildings Construction Corporation) to kickstart large-scale infrastructure projects, including the creation of New Nagpur and the construction of the Outer Ring Road.
New Nagpur to Be Built on 1,710 Acres
Under the plan, NBCC will act as the project management consultant for developing New Nagpur on a land area of 1,710 acres. The new township aims to ease congestion in the existing city and provide modern infrastructure to residents.
148 km Outer Ring Road Project
Alongside the township, a 148-kilometre Outer Ring Road will be developed to enhance connectivity and ease traffic within the metropolitan region. The project is expected to significantly decongest city roads and support Nagpur’s growing urbanisation.
₹11,300 Crore Funding from HUDCO
To fund these ambitious projects, HUDCO will provide financial assistance of ₹11,300 crore. Out of this, ₹6,500 crore will be allocated for the New Nagpur project, while ₹4,800 crore will be used for the Outer Ring Road construction.
Programme Presided Over by CM Fadnavis
The announcement was made during a programme presided over by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who highlighted the significance of these projects for the future growth of Nagpur.
With these projects, Nagpur is set to undergo a massive transformation, positioning itself as one of the most well-planned and rapidly developing cities in India.
