Nagpur: In a significant crackdown on counterfeit pharmaceuticals, Shantinagar Police have registered a case against multiple accused involved in the storage and sale of fake medicines. The complaint was filed by Prashant Rajendra Ramteke (49), a Drug Inspector with the Food and Drug Administration, Maharashtra.
During an official inspection, a stock of counterfeit medicine branded “Albure” was discovered at M/s Hitashi Pharmaceuticals located in Tulsi Nagar, Nagpur. Further investigation revealed a larger network involving distributors and firms based in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai, as well as individuals from Delhi and Chandigarh.
The accused allegedly conspired between September 19 and December 17, 2025, to manufacture and distribute fake medicines, posing a serious risk to public health. A case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation is ongoing.
