Nagpur: The City Police have achieved a significant improvement in road safety under Operation U-Turn, recording a 60% reduction in road-accident deaths in November 2025 as compared to November 2024. As per official data, fatal accidents decreased from 32 to 14 and total deaths reduced from 33 to 14, marking one of the most notable declines in recent years. This progress is the direct outcome of focused enforcement and continuous public awareness initiatives. Throughout November 2025, the police implemented strict action against drunk driving, setting up special nakabandi points during late evenings and weekends, which led to a sharp decline in alcohol-related accidents.

Simultaneously, intensified enforcement was carried out at accident-prone areas, where blackspots were studied through accident mapping, field inspections, and camera surveillance. Strategic deployment of manpower, improved signage, and peak-hour monitoring helped reduce fatal and serious crashes at these locations.

Another major focus area was improving discipline among heavy and transport vehicles. Dedicated teams monitored trucks, buses, and commercial vehicles. Night highway patrols were strengthened, and transport companies were sensitised on safe driving practices, leading to improved behaviour among heavy-vehicle drivers. To shape long-term safe driving habits, Nagpur Police also organised extensive awareness sessions in schools and colleges, educating young citizens about helmet safety, pedestrian rules, and the dangers of stunt riding. Along with this, strong action was taken against rash and furious driving and targeted prosecution of repeat offenders to curb overspeeding and zig-zag riding across the city.

A strict crackdown was also carried out on minor driving, holding parents accountable under the law and detaining vehicles driven by underage riders. This enforcement, combined with school outreach programs, helped reduce the number of minor driving cases significantly. As a combined result of these interventions, November 2025 witnessed a substantial reduction not only in fatal accidents and deaths but also in serious and minor injury cases, indicating improved road discipline citywide. Nagpur City Police appeals to all citizens to continue supporting Operation U-Turn by following traffic rules responsibly, so that this positive momentum in saving lives on the roads is maintained in the future.
